WETC, Terra Systems Inc. Join Together in Clean Coke Center of Excellence Open House

WETC Logo The Western Energy Training Center (WETC) and Terra Systems Inc will be conducting an Open House showcasing the Clean Coke Center of Excellence November 7, 2007 11am to 1pm.

Terra Systems and WETC will conduct tours of the Center's facilities including the Clean Coke Pilot facility. The tour will focus on innovative techniques the Center of Excellence is developing to process carbon waste products into high-grade metallurgic coke. In addition to the tour there will be three short presentations in regards to the qualities, economic benefits and training associated with the Center of Excellence. Attendees will become familiar with a variety of Center of Excellence topics like: uses for clean coke, associated training, current markets, future plans and development.

WETC and Terra Systems Inc emphasize that the most significant outcome for the Clean Coke Center of Excellence Open House is to develop a universal sense of the opportunities associated with this innovative processes. WETC Director Steven Burge said, "This is an excellent opportunity to get our regional communities to experience the qualities and opportunities of the Clean Coke Center of Excellence and see first-hand what is going on at WETC to support it. It is also a great way for them to see how rural communities can become innovators for economic viability and growth in this state and across the country." The hope is that after seeing the Clean Coke Center of Excellence attendees will take what they have learned and assist in the advancement of this great opportunity.

The Western Energy Training Center is a resource for existing and prospective employees of the energy industry. With the center located in Eastern Utah, WETC helps to develop the skills and technical expertise needed for the 21st century and the growing demand for energy industry workers. Terra Systems, a Center of Excellence partner, is an innovative energy corporation that is based in Midvale, Utah and is associated with many new technologies that could have considerable impact on rural economies. Dr. Robert Topping, Ed. D., Training Director of WETC, pointed out that "Terra Systems goal of economic development in rural Utah are consistent with our Process Technology program learning outcomes and objectives. Getting our regional community involved in the opportunities associated with the Center of Excellence concept is a key component to the future success of the industry locating in rural Utah. Ultimately, the object of the open house is to provide a clear picture of the possibilities associated with the Clean Coke Center of Excellence in rural Utah. Working with Terra Systems on this process has accelerated the potential of this great un-tapped resource."

The Clean Coke Center of Excellence is yet another step for WETC and Terra Systems to provide rural economic development to southeastern Utah. We anticipate this Open House to be a great success, having a significant impact on rural Utah's future.
